Slim SEO Pro Review 2026: Tested Against Four Rivals
Slim SEO Pro review: the lightest SEO plugin we tested, with almost no settings. What the free plugin does, what Pro adds, and who it suits.
Most SEO plugins compete on how many settings they have. Slim SEO competes on how few. You install it, and it writes titles, descriptions, social tags, schema and a sitemap with no setup. Slim SEO Pro is the paid layer on top: a visual schema builder and an internal link manager.
We installed the free plugin on a clean test site next to its four main rivals, so this review can say what it actually does by default.

Quick verdict
Slim SEO is the right plugin for someone who wants SEO handled and does not want a new dashboard to learn. In our test it was the lightest plugin by a wide margin and still produced the most schema. It is the wrong plugin if you want to tune every post by hand or want keyword scoring while you write.
Pros
- Works on activation: nothing to configure, no account to connect
- 1.7 MB on disk and no database tables, the smallest in our test of five plugins
- Wrote a meta description and seven schema node types for a plain post, unprompted
- Redirects, 404 monitoring, automatic image alt text and breadcrumbs are in the free plugin
- Pro adds a visual schema builder and a link manager with reports
Cons
- No content analysis: no focus keyword score, no readability check
- A small user base (70,000+ installations), so fewer guides and answers online
- On our test site it left the default WordPress title format in place, where the others changed the separator
What it did on our test site
How we tested. On 2 October 2026 we installed the free version of each plugin, one at a time, on a clean WordPress site with WooCommerce and the default theme. We left every setting at its default, published one ordinary blog post, and looked at what each plugin put into the page. The figures are for that one site and that one post. They show how the plugins behave out of the box. They are not a ranking test: no plugin can be shown to rank a page higher than another from a test like this, and we do not claim it.
| Plugin (free version) | Version tested | Size on disk | Database tables added | Added to the page head | Meta description written for you | Scripts or styles added to the page |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Slim SEO | 4.11.0 | 1.7 MB | 0 | 1.1 KB | Yes | None |
| SEOPress | 10.3 | 13.2 MB | 1 | 1.7 KB | Yes | None |
| Rank Math | 1.0.279 | 16.1 MB | 2 | 3.3 KB | Yes | None |
| Yoast SEO | 28.6 | 22.4 MB | 6 | 4.5 KB | No | None |
| All in One SEO | 5.0.2.1 | 25.1 MB | 9 | 4.8 KB | Yes | None |

For one ordinary blog post, with no settings touched, Slim SEO 4.11.0 printed:
- a meta description taken from the post;
- seven Open Graph tags and a Twitter card tag;
- schema for the website, a search action, breadcrumbs, the page, a read action, the organisation and the article;
- a sitemap at
/sitemap.xml.
It added 1.1 KB to the page head and no scripts or stylesheets. Its nearest rival for weight, SEOPress, was 13.2 MB on disk against Slim SEO’s 1.7 MB.
What is in the free plugin
The developer lists these for the free version:
- Meta tags: title, description, Open Graph and Twitter cards, generated automatically.
- Schema: a connected set of schema types for the site, pages and content.
- Redirection: redirect old or broken addresses and monitor 404 errors.
- Image alt text: added automatically where it is missing.
- XML sitemap and breadcrumbs.
- Header and footer code: a place for analytics and tag manager snippets.
Redirects are worth noting. Yoast and All in One SEO both keep a redirect manager for their paid plans.
What Slim SEO Pro adds
Visual schema builder
The free plugin decides the schema for you. The Pro builder lets you add and map your own types through a visual interface, for example a recipe, an event or a product, and connect their fields to your content.
Link manager
Builds and monitors internal links, with reports on which pages link where. Internal links are one of the few on-site ranking factors fully in your control, and on a large site they are hard to track by hand.
Pricing
The free plugin is on WordPress.org. For Slim SEO Pro’s current price, see the developer’s site at wpslimseo.com: we could not read a price from its page on the day we checked, and we will not guess one.
On PureGPL, Slim SEO Pro is $3.49 as a single download, or included in a membership from $14 a month. The current file is version 1.10.1.
What a GPL copy does and does not include
The Pro plugins named here are licensed under the GPL, which is why we can distribute them. A copy from PureGPL is the developer’s original file. It is not a licence with the developer, so you do not get their support, and anything that runs through the developer’s own account or servers is not part of it. In SEO plugins that matters more than usual: keyword rank tracking, AI writing credits and connected analytics are services the developer hosts, and they need the developer’s account. The on-site features (schema, redirects, sitemaps, WooCommerce and local SEO settings) are in the file. Updates come from us. If you need the hosted services or the developer’s support, buy from the developer.
Who should use something else
- You want writing guidance: Yoast SEO scores each post as you write.
- You want the most features in one plugin: Rank Math.
- You only need link suggestions: Link Whisper Pro does that one job.
- You only need schema: Schema Pro.
